blogging – Blogging For Internet Marketing Purpouses
ByBlogging For Internet Marketing Purpouses
This tutorial discusses blogs. A blog (short for web log) is a website where journal-like entries are made and publicly displayed in reverse chronological order. This tutorial will show you how to set them up, why they are important and how they work. Blogs can be a fun, inexpensive way to get customers and improve the ranking of your website, as well as a way to receive feedback from customers.
Blogs are online public journals that comment on the news or a particular subject, such as food, politics, or life events. Typically blogs are a combination of text and links to other websites and other blogs, but it is becoming more popular to include photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting). Blogs give readers the ability to comment or add feedback to a subject and interact with what they are reading. The word “blog” can be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
The good news is that Google and other search engines are beginning to understand the significance of blogs, and are awarding blogs high Google Page Ranks, and high search engine rankings. This means that links that you might get on blog sites through stealth linking are generally high-traffic and high PR links. These links can increase you websites page rank.
Three years ago there were two million blogs on the web, according to blog search engine Technorati. Today there are more than 70 million. The most popular blog websites have huge numbers of people reading them. Engadget, for one, has more readers than most print newspapers and magazines.
Using blogs as a marketing technique can bring visitors directly to your site from the direct links, but another important result of using blogs is building link popularity and page rank. This linking approach is a free and effective way of getting numerous links to your site without being required to link back.
Application
Two methods of utilizing blogs are leaving your digital signature and adding a Blog to your site.
To join other blogs you can visit any of the following web sites. You will also frequently find blogs if you spend time researching various subjects that interest you.
• Battle Blog
• Blog.com
• Blogger
• LiveJournal
• MySpace
• NewBlog.com
• Open Dia
1000
ry
• TypePad
• Typo
• Windows Live Spaces
• Wordpress.com
• Xanga
• Vox
Find a blog that interests you or has some connection to your website. You probably are already visiting sites related to your hobbies or interests that have message boards; these make perfect targets. The newest log will be at the top and there will usually be a button that reads “reply” or “post”. Click that button and enter your reply. Be sure to follow the conversation of the blog and include your digital signature.
Signatures
A signature or signature file is a “standard recurring close” to messages you write. You should create a signature file that includes your website address the name of your site and a very short description. You should create two signature file formats: plain text and HTML. Some message blogs will automatically convert a web address into a link; others will only display the actual link if the HTML code is written. Create both formats and save them in Notepad or in a word processor file so that you have them readily available to copy.
Remember, you don’t always need to find message boards that match the subject matter of your site. You are not posting advertisements. You will be participating in the blog conversation as a genuine and sincere participant commenting on the subject at hand. You just happen to have a signature file that includes a link to our site, which is fairly common for signature files, and will not cause concern from anyone.
The second way to generate traffic and get feedback on your site is by starting your own blog. You can discuss your products or any subject that has something to do with your website on this blog.
Other people who join your blog will leave comments and might link to your blog from other sites. Running a blog on your website takes time to become successful but can be very rewarding.

Advantages Of A Blog
Almost everything that has advantages have disadvantages but when the advantages of a particular thing out weighs the disadvantages then it becomes insignificant, this is why I will not be discussing the disadvantages of a blog, because honestly I feel there is none. Well, except that the regular fresh content a blog requires can always make you feel on edge.
The advantages of a blog cannot be over-emphasized. The biggest advantage I see is that blogs give people, everyone alike, rich or poor an equal chance to be on the online world and write freely about their opinions, feelings and thoughts on different topics and subjects and actually have people worldwide
read them!
Considering myself as an example. I love expressing myself, and writing gives me the opportunity to do that effectively. I have always wanted a medium where I could put my written contents and have a lot of people read it, so I wrote some articles on MLM and had it published in a local newspaper (Financial Standard Newspaper) in Nigeria. But you will agree with me that, that is limited. With a website I could address the world. But since I do not have a website design skill, it met I had to pay for the service and that presently could cost me N25, 000 or more ($170 or more) Wow! That’s some money. You could imagine how I felt when I realized I could achieve my dream using a blog without spending a dime!
Blogs are easy and inexpensive to set-up
To set up a blog can take as little as 10 minutes and it involves just three simple steps (choose your blogging software, register your account and start blogging). After creating your blog, all you are required to do is to provide as many fresh contents as you can on a regularly basis . You don’t have to spend a dime creating your blog because there are free versions available, but for a profitable blog, it is advised you use hosted WordPress. A tutorial will be given in the nearest future on this blog on how to create hosted WordPress blog. Hosted wordpress blog is server based and requires you get a domain name ($10 max.) and hosting service (could get for less than $10). You could get Alvin Phang’s book, Atomic Blogging 3.0, it contains all you need to know about setting up a professional and profitable hosted WordPress blog.Visit my blog for more on Atomic Blogging 3.0

Blogs are Search Engine Friendly
This advantage of a blog is one of reasons I love blogs. Your posts and pages are automatically linked by
blogs and that enables search engines spiders to find, crawl and index the blog. With relevant keywords in your blog Title, Meta tags, and the URL pages you could have your pages ranking higher in search engines. Meaning that when anyone type in your keywords into search engines, your page could be among the first few displayed list and that my friend, could relate to lots of free traffic to your blog!
Blogs attract more traffic for it fresh contents
Readers are attracted to blogs because of it fresh regular contents and if as a blogger you are passionate
about what you write about, and committed to providing fresh regular contents on it, thousands who are also passionate about that topic will on a regular basis visit your blog and if you keep updating it regularly with new contents, you will keep them coming.
Blogs creates room for online community
The in –built comment feed on blogs, enable readers to share their opinions about your pages and also start
discussions on different topics.
When you have commentators who provide good information, suggestions and advice, you could create unique relevant content from it and most importantly keep your traffic as they will keep coming to get updates on different topics.
Blogs have built-in RSS Feed
RSS which means Really Simple Syndication syndicate recent posts and deliver them to various blog search
engines and when your readers subscribe to your RSS Feed it automatically delivers your recent posts to their inbox.
Some advantages of a blog from an organizational perspective are as follows:
Blogs enable companies to keep their customers informed on a regular basis. They could post news about new products, policies and opportunities available and have it in front of their customers in a matter of minutes instead of having to send newsletter weekly or monthly.
That helps organizations to develop stronger relationships with their customers and build trust since they can
easily interact with them and get feedbacks.
Companies could drive traffic from their blog to their websites. Blogging also showcase the organization as professionals in what they do and they could build brand loyalty.
There are definitely other advantages of a blog, but these are the main ones I came up with. Now should you build a website or create a blog? To help you make the decision visit my blog again and read my next post, Static website vs. Blog. I will discuss more specifically the advantages of a blog over Static website.

Pitfalls Of Blogging
Are you one of those that do not yet have the capability of blogging to help your business? Then, you are way behind all the others.
Professional and small businesses alike have already taken their marketing into blogs to communicate and keep in touch with their target customers and consumers alike.
You may have heard about it already. How people already have their own blog sites and how they work successfully with their niche market. Reports have also shown how their profits have been boosted because of blogging. These and among other things are enough for you to jump up and start blogging right away.
What you may not know about is that there are also many bloggers who have fallen into some of the pitfalls of blogging when they first started their own. And take note, these are the same persons who are so good in running their business.
Now, the question. Why do this competitive and successful people fall short when it comes to blogging?
The answer? Blog pitfalls. Not knowing what are these and how to best avoid them.
What are some of the pitfalls in blogging that you need to be aware of to ensure you do not make the same mistakes that others have fallen into.
1. Writing nonsense instead of writing answers to questions your consumers have. You have not undergone keyword search or asked your clients what they want to know first. And you may be thinking that blogs are just like diaries online.
With this beliefs, all you write about is you, your life and other related details. You are actually drifting away from your target. And you are contradicting the business building tool capability of your blog.
2. You pretend to be an expert in order to build more credibility but in reality, you do not have any idea about the blogging software you are using. You can blame this part on the new technology being used on blogging that you are not an expert on. But that is not reason enough.
You need to research and learn more about how to use your blog features before you even start one. Get to know how to make use of your blogs for visibility and accessibility over the Internet. Have a basic knowledge about trackbacks and permanent link features. They will prove important and necessary.
3. No blog category. The readers are
1000
confused about what topics are you writing about. They do not have any idea what they are getting into. They probably would not even attempt to find yours if they have to guess first what it is you are trying to say.
What is your main message? Your focus? What will be in your blog that your readers can benefit from? Try to answer these questions.
4. Your blog does not reflect you and your business. Your blog is a mess and your customers cannot seem to find any similarity between your blog and your business.
Your blog should be an extension of your business. Make your customers feel like they are doing business with you in the comfortable ambiance of your office. Your blogs should reflect your business image.
5. You have no idea about other blogs in the same field. You do not spend time looking at other blogs to see what is being written about and to see the strategies that others are using. You do not know what is happening on the market.
Blogging takes commitments. You have to let your readers know that you are present and that they are able to contact you through your blogs. Give some of your time to your blogs.
6. Your blogs have no appropriate contents posted. If all you ever have in your blogs are advertising and marketing about your products, expect your customers to get bored, go away and never come back. They have had enough of sales being presented to them.
Spare them the sales talk. Try to write something not about what you are offering. Find other related topics you can talk about.
7. You have not visited your blog site for some time. One of the sins in blogging is not updating what is written. Expect to lose the traffic you have been getting.
If you are not doing anything about your blog, why have one in the first place?

Many thanks
First, I’d like to thank you for this informative article. Secondly, I would like to ask where I can get more information regarding your post. I came here through Bing and cannot find any other relevant pages on there. Thanks in advance!
A very comprehensive and interesting read, I started my wordpress blog about 3 weeks ago just to discuss SEO matters and internet marketing and it’s already receiving a ton of traffic. They arem ore useful than article writing on your own website, and blogs are also more prominent now in Google because they are constantly updated.
I know that blogs on the web have exploded in number but 70 million is mind boggling.
That’s why it’s important to make content creation the basis of your blog. Add something of value, provide something of use with your posts and engage with your audience.
Your readership will increase significantly by adopting these practices.
Thanks for sharing your insight.
